RENT CONTROL LAW 1986 (PNDCL 138)

Section 1-Rent in Respect of Residential Premises.

(1) The rent payable by a tenant in respect of single or two-roomed accommodation in any residential premises shall be as specified in the First Schedule to this Law.

(2) Where the residential accommodation in respect of which the rent is payable is smaller or larger in dimensions than those specified in the First Schedule the recoverable rent shall be proportionate to the dimensions of such accommodation.

MORTGAGES DECREE, 1972 (NRDC 96)

ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS

Section 1—Nature of a Mortgage.

(1) A mortgage for the purposes of this Decree is a contract charging immovable property as security for the due repayment of debt and any interest accruing thereon or for the performance of some other obligation for which it is given, in accordance with the terms of the contract.

(2)  A mortgage shall be an encumbrance on the property charged, and shall not, except as provided by this Decree, operate so as to change the

HOME MORTGAGE FINANCE LAW, 1993 (PNDC L 329)

1.  Despite anything in this Act, where at least eighty-five per cent of the total loan amount has been paid or tendered by or on behalf of the

borrower, the Company shall not enforce a right to recover possession of the premises or its power of sale otherwise than by a court action.

2.  Where the mortgage involves a progressive repayment scheme or in the case of an indexed transaction, where the principal advanced may be

adjusted upwards, if the adjusted principal outstanding is less than 15 per cent of the initial loan amount, the Company shall not enforce a right to

CONVEYANCING DECREE, 1973 (NRCD 175)

ARRANGEMENT OF SECTIONS

Section 1—Mode of Transfer.

(1) A transfer of an interest in land shall be by a writing signed by the person making the transfer or by his agent duly authorised in writing, unless relieved against the need for such a writing by the provisions of section 3.

(2) A transfer of an interest in land made in a manner other than as provided in this Part shall confer no interest on the transferee.
